FAQs – Family skills workshops
No, it doesn't matter whether or not your loved one has been diagnosed with a mental health condition. These are useful skills for anyone supporting young adults who have difficulty managing their emotions.
No. We are not therapists or counsellors so our workshops are not eligible for insurance coverage.
The workshops all “stand alone” and can be taken in any order. You can continue attending the rest of the series and pick up the session you missed by registering for a single workshop at a later date. We are not able to provide program credit for workshop(s) missed as part of a cohort series.
Workshops attended through Lifeboat Family Skills or partner organizations are all recorded in your account on this site. Go to “My Account” on the homepage and enter your email address. Then click on "Forgot Password" and follow the instructions to set-up or reset your password.

Yes. You’re welcome to take free workshops or series as many times as you like.
Our workshops are inspired by Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) developed by M. Linehan (1991) and adapted for use with families by A. Fruzzetti & P. Hoffman (2001) and by A. Miller & J. Rathus (2014). We also draw from the work of K. Neff (2015) and Tara Brach (202) on Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC).
