Participants in any of the Lifeboat Family Skills workshops, are subject to the following terms:


Intended Users and Limitations

  • Our workshops are intended solely for adults (age 18+) supporting young people who are struggling with their mental health. Because there may be risks associated with participating in the workshop for people with mental health conditions, we cannot accept registrations from young adults who are themselves dealing with mental health difficulties.
  • Family members are permitted to sign up for workshops without being referred. It is not necessary for their loved one to have a formal diagnosis.
  • If you are a family member who has a pre-existing mental health concern, please be aware that there may be emotional risk to participation. If you choose to participate, you do so of your own free will and voluntarily assume all risks associated with workshop activities. Please also be advised that by enrolling in any of the workshops offered, you are NOT entering into a therapeutic relationship. If you are looking for therapy, you need to engage the services of a mental health professional.

Confidentiality

Participants will be identified in workshops by their first names only. As we practice new skills together, participants may choose to share examples from their family situations. Any personal information that may be revealed in the course of workshop activities MUST be kept strictly confidential.

Information is for educational purposes only – No Guarantees

  • The information provided in Lifeboat Family Skills workshops is for educational and training purposes only. We make no guarantees or warranties of any kind. In the workshops, we may discuss options for responding to a type of problem or situation. The Lifeboat Family Skills Peer Facilitators will provide examples of how they have used various skills in their own families but are in no way responsible for your actions. You are expected to use your own good judgment in taking any actions that may relate to the discussions in a given workshop.
  • Our workshops are designed to support and assist you in reaching your own goals, but your success depends primarily on your own effort, motivation, commitment, and follow-through. There are no guarantees for expectations or achievements of specific outcomes or results from using the information you receive through this workshop(s).


Accuracy and Limitation of Liability

  • Facts and information provided in the workshops are considered to be accurate when they were created and are to be used for education and personal growth purposes only. The information provided should not be relied upon as all-inclusive or one hundred percent accurate.
  • Participants agree to hold Lifeboat Family Skills its owners and contracted providers harmless from any and all liability for all claims for damages due to injuries, (including legal fees and costs) incurred by you, or caused to third parties by you, arising out of the activities discussed in these workshops, except for claims for gross negligence or intentional wrongdoing.


Personal Use Only

  • Participating in Lifeboat Family Skills workshop(s) does not grant you ownership or any rights to the program or any associated materials.  Any copying, redistribution, use or publication of any of the content included in any of the workshops in the series is strictly prohibited.
